About Daniel Tait

Daniel Tait began his professional journey as a working musician in the tri-state area, hailing originally from Germantown, Maryland. It wasn't until the twilight of his thirties that he decided to acquire the tools necessary to protect the rights of people in need of relentless representation throughout our judicial system.
That determination and persistence enable Daniel to fight for his clients as if the allegations are against himself. As an Assistant Public Defender for the Maryland Office of the Public Defender, Daniel aggressively defended thousands of clients against government prosecution in all types of criminal matters including felonies, misdemeanors, assaults, dui/dwi, traffic offenses, cds distribution/possession, burglary, robbery, thefts, illegal gun possession, and violations of probation. With this experience, Daniel gained a thorough understanding of criminal procedure and trial methods while developing the skills necessary to pursue each client's constitutional right to defend themselves.
Now with The Law Offices of Andrea Cheeatow, LLC, Daniel brings this diverse experience to representing clients in navigating the often-complex judicial landscape in family law and criminal matters, with the intent of achieving the best possible result in every case.
Daniel graduated from the Widener Commonwealth law School in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania in May of 2020. While pursuing his Juris Doctor, Daniel was part of a team of students that promoted and developed an externship with the Pennsylvania Innocence Project, as well as participated in internships with the Berkeley County, West Virginia, State's Attorney's Office; Konare Law in Frederick County, Maryland; and the Skinner Law Firm in Charles Town, West Virginia. Finally, apprenticing with Panhandle Legal in Charles Town, West Virginia, before accepting a position with the Maryland Office of the Public Defender in the spring of 2021.
Daniel is licensed in Maryland and West Virginia.
